Astute Rosehill trainer Chris Waller took out both divisions of the two year-old filly’s event at Randwick on Tuesday with Deer Valley and Every Man’s Dream, daughters of Lonhro and Charge Forward respectively.
The BC3 Thoroughbreds owned filly Deer Valley resumed from a short spell to score a determined victory in the 1200 metre event over another Lonhro filly in Counterpane, who ran a bold race on debut to go down by a head.
A runaway winner at Kembla last preparation and then beaten just two and a half lengths behind Headway when midfield in the Group Three AJC Sweet Embrace Stakes, Deer Valley proved too classy under the steadier of 57kg.
A $100,000 purchase for John Brocklebank as a gent at the 2008 Magic Millions Yearling Sale from the draft of Woodlands Stud, Deer Valley was passed in shy of her reserve when re-offered at the MM Horses in Training Sale so is still in the ownership of BC3.
Deer Valley is from the Danehill (USA) mare Danislew, whose dam is a half-sister by Seattle Slew to legendary champion Kingston Town
Following on from the win of Deer Valley was her stablemate Every Man’s Dream, who made it two wins from four starts when she powered home to grab the favourite Zingaling right on the line and score by half a head with five lengths back to the third horse..
An $80,000 purchase from the Eliza Park draft at the 2008 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Every Man’s Dream is from a great filly family being from She’s Game, a half-sister to former brilliant juvenile Bold Promise the dam of Group One winning fillies Merlene (Golden Slipper) and Miss Pennymoney (VRC Newmarket Handicap).
