Runaway Doomben winner Shellscrape is out to snare more riches at the end of the Queensland winter carnival in Saturday’s Australia Post Stakes at Eagle Farm.
The Chris Waller trained two-year-old was never going to lose when leading throughout at Doomben last time out and another win beckons.
“He’s done really well since then so why not go around again,” Waller said on Thursday. “Larry Cassidy sticks with him and the horse doesn’t know how to run a bad race.
“He’s drawn a little awkwardly but he’ll push forward and give plenty of cheek again.”
Cassidy and Waller also combine when Bellagio Wynn goes around in the Tattersall’s Cup.
“He had a big weight at Ipswich the other day yet still ran well,” Waller said. “He’s a chance on Saturday.”
Waller said his best chances in Sydney rest with Vintedge (St George Cancer Care Centre Handicap) and African Prince (NTS Business Communications Handicap). Stablemates Likenothinelsie and The Embassy run in the Prostate Cancer Institute Handicap. Light Red rounds out Waller’s Randwick team, in the last race.
