Irish-bred import Voice Coach has posted his second straight win in Australia at Rosehill for Chris Waller today in the Sydney City Toyota Handicap (2000m).
Voice Coach was purchased by Chris Waller in England at the Tattersalls December Sale and commenced racing for the Rosehill-based trainer in May.
The five-year-old has slowly stepped up in distance this campaign and has won over 2000m in his past two starts.
“It’s good to see him winning Saturday races and winning them impressively because it looks like he has a good future ahead of him,” Waller said.
Voice Coach will be nominated for both the Caulfield and Melbourne Cup, while connections also have the Group 1 The Metropolitan (2400m) in mind for the five-year-old.
His success over 2000m is no surprise based on the performance’s of his family throughout Europe.
Voice Coach is by Irish sire Alhaarth out of Caerleon mare Drama Class which makes him a half brother to Scottish Stage who ran second in the 2006 Group 1 Irish Oaks (2400m).
His dam is also a half sister to Stage Gift who won the 2007 Group 2 York Stakes (2100m).
The matriarch of the family is Sun Princess.
The English Prince mare recorded three Group 1 wins, the 1983 Group 1 The Oaks, the Group 1 The St Leger (2937m) and also the Yorkshire Oaks.
She is also a proven broodmare, being the dam of ten foals, nine to race and eight of which are winners.
These include Princely Venture who won a Group 2 Scottish Derby and Group 1 winner Prince Of Dance.
Her one unraced foal, Ballet Queen, became a proven broodmare in her own right.
She produced 1996 Group 1 Japan Derby winner Fusaichi Concorde who is by Caerleon.
This makes Voice Coach’s dam Drama Class a blood sister to the sire.
