Ringerdingding wins Carbine Club

Ringerdingding missed out on a start in the $3 million Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) but gained his consolation by beating three-year-old rivals in Saturday’s $200,000 G3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) at Randwick.

Trained by Chris Waller and ridden by James McDonald, Ringerdingding ($3.10) settled midfield on the fence from barrier one before driving between runners inside the final 200 metres to win by half a neck.

Shuffle Up ($61) was runner-up, with Dealmaker ($2.80 favourite) getting warm late, a further half-length away in third.

Frustration has been the theme of Ringerdingding’s autumn campaign when hastily joining Waller following Darren Weir’s disqualification in early February.

His third placing in the G2 Autumn Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield was followed by unplaced closing efforts in the G1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) and G1 Australian Guineas (1600m) from wide barriers.

Ringerdingding then failed at his most recent start in the G1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) when not handling the Heavy conditions at Rosehill.

“Unfortunately he didn’t get there (in the Doncaster), it’s been the story of this preparation,” Waller said.

“In Melbourne he was very unlucky with barrier draws but things have just gone wrong to him. He’ll win a good race.”

Ringerdingding has raced 17 times for five wins, three of those at Stakes level which have been between 1400 and 1600m in three-year-old company. – Racing.com
